How to Create a CCGI Parent/Guardian Account to Track Your GHS Student's Progress

How to Create a CCGI Parent/Guardian Account to Track Your GHS Student's Progress

  1. Make sure your child has registered their account. You won’t be able to register your Parent Account otherwise. (Every student at GHS has registered their accounts with their high school counselor during their counselor class visits).
  2. Go to CaliforniaColleges.edu: CCGI Registration
  3. Click Register Your Account in the top-right corner of the screen.
  4. Select “I am a Parent/Guardian,” and enter the names of your child’s school district and school, then click Next.
  5. Enter your child’s name, student ID number, and date of birth. For the student ID number, you can enter your child’s Statewide Student Identifier (SSID), which is located on your child’s transcript (All GHS students received a hard copy of their transcript during the counselor class visits).
  6. Click on the checkbox, then click Next.
  7. Enter your name and email address, then create a password.
  8. Click Register.

How to Pay for College

How to Pay for College

Where Can I Start?

A big part of planning for college is figuring out how to pay for it. A term you might see a lot is Cost of Attendance (COA). That’s the total amount it costs to go to a college for one year.

The COA includes:
    • Tuition and fees.
    • Books and supplies.
    • Housing.
    • Meals.
    • Transportation.
    • Some personal expenses.

Most students don’t have to pay the total COA because they get financial aid!

What is Net Price?

Net Price is the amount it’ll cost you to go to college for one year after free money. In other words, it’s the amount you actually have to pay. You might pay for the Net Price with savings, student loans, income from a job, or money from your parents.

Colleges decide how much free money you can get in different ways.

Your Net Price will depend on:
  • Your personal circumstances.
  • The college’s financial aid policies.

A college with a high COA could still be affordable if it can offer you more free money than other colleges.

Remember! When comparing colleges, look at Net Price—not COA.

  • Find Your Net Price
  • Compare your Net Price for the colleges on your list to see which ones will be the most affordable.
  • If you’re thinking about going to college outside of California, visit the college’s website and search for “Net Price Calculator.” Every college should have one.
